Good health can be a battle or a breeze

Being ill or in pain, feeling exhausted and seeing life rush past you is no fun.

Rediscover your youthful vitality. We all deserve to live long and still be full of vigour and free from the many diseases of nutrition.

I know what it’s like. Turning 50 was my wake-up call. I had my first gout attacks. I was over-weight and began to notice aches and pains in joints and muscles. Fatigue, lacklustre libido, wrinkly, less elastic skin with dark spots appearing, ‘sometimers’ (senior’s moments) and my eyesight was deteriorating.

Were these life-draining conditions inescapable facts of ageing?

Then I discovered that it didn’t need to be this way.

Research into the impressive health of Indigenous Australians, Africans and Americans in their traditional lifestyles led to a Eureka moment as I continued my own lab work at Sydney University’s Human Nutrition Unit on the nutritional value of wild foods.

Let me show you how the wild foods of the World’s longest living culture can solve a lot of our health issues and wind back the clock – one teaspoonful at a time.

Is seeing your doctor like a checklist of biochemistry test results?

“BP is up.”

“You could do with losing a bit of weight.”

“Looks like you are pre-diabetic.”

“Cholesterol is a bit high.”

“Maybe we should look into your diet?”

“I see early signs of a few other things we need to address too.”

I understand the reaction you feel from a future on prescription drugs but it shouldn’t be a life sentence.

I have helped a lot of people address their health and ageing issues and escape the fear of becoming fragile and decrepit with a fading memory and being increasingly dependent on others for the basics of life.

Are you ready to start on a transformational journey? The faster we begin, the better the outcomes.

Let me tell you about what I call, food essentials. These are phytonutrients which I often describe as being like tiny super-heroes which get into our body and change, adjust, protect and fix things for our benefit.

So where do these super-heroes come from? Well, plants that are in their natural, wild environments are exposed to all sorts of conditions during their growth. It might be water availability or sunlight exposure, fungal attack or grazing insects or animals. It might be smoke or singeing fires (not cremating fires) or flooding and inundation. It might even be their unique location eg under a man-made hole in the stratospheric ozone layer.

We now know that the closer that plants are to their ancestral forms (most of our foods come from just 17 species), the more developed are the plants’ defense systems against the stresses listed above. These defenses are usually chemicals which might repel grazing animals or insects; help repair damaged leaves, fruits or branches; or be antimicrobial to reduce fungal attack; and so on.

It is these defense compounds which become phytonutrients for us when we consume the plant’s edible portion. They may be used by our microflora or our own metabolic processes. Some may be converted into related compounds and these become active phytonutrients as they are handled along with other food fragments.

And so we get phytonutrients if we eat plants that are well armed for their survival and not those that are bred just for distribution, appearance in grocery displays or to suit factory farming methods and not our ideal nutrition.

Watch this short video about phytonutrients and why they are so good for our ideal health.

The great news is that wild foods are rich sources of phytonutrients and LIFE is a rich source of wild foods.
